About Us
The Islamic Association in Tønsberg was established in 2001. It has been formed with the overall objective of practicing Islam as a total way of life. The Islamic association is a religious, educational, non-profit, non-political association. Our association provides the five daily prayers, friday prayers, educational talks and seminars, weekend schools, weddings, funeral services to mention just a few. The Islamic Association is dedicated to the service of Muslims and Islam in the city of Tønsberg and surrounding areas. Major objectives include but not limited to:
- Spread and promote the teachings and understanding of Islam via religious festivities, lectures, symposia and seminars.
- Help Muslims practice Islam as a belief, a behavior, and a lifestyle.
- Educating Muslims about the greatness of Islam taking the excellent example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), his blessed teachings and exalted standard of character.
- Cherish the bonds of mutual friendship and understanding between the Muslim community and the Norwegian society within the framework of Islam.
- Work in cooperative projects with other organizations and institutions in the Norwegian society.
